How we got our Ellie!

On Monday the 8th we went to the hospital to start the induction process. Since I was not dilated at all they started with two doses of cervical ripening gel. The doses had to be given 4 hours apart, plus I was sleeping in a labor and delivery bed, so lets just say I didn't get any sleep that night. At 8am on Tuesday the let me have my last meal before the started the pitocin ( hospital food, not yummy). So after getting my IV in and everything hooked up they finally started at 9am.
It was a busy day in labor and delivery and the nurses were very busy. So we were left to just hang out until our baby came. At noon they came in and checked to see if i was dilated, but alas I was barley a 1. So an hour or so later they came in and said that they wanted to break my water. I was in shock because I wasn't feeling any contractions at all. So the doctor came in and checked me again and I was still a 1! And they can't break your water till your about a 3. So my decided to try and jump start the process by inserting a balloon in my cervix to help it get things going. It sounds painful, and it is! The best way I could describe it is that it is like a constant contraction (not to mention the nurse coming in very 1/2 hour to tug on it to make sure it had enough pressure!). So after an hour of pain I decided to get a epidural knowing that if I had her vaginally I would be to tired to deal with the pain, or if I had to get a c-section i would be getting one any way.
After Jacob made buddies with the anesthesiologist and in between medical school chats I finally got my epidural. Four hours later they came and broke my water. I was feeling very optimistic at this point, thinking that breaking my water would be the straw that broke the camels back. But 2 hours later I was still only at a 4. The doctor came in and told us that he was pretty sure that my body still thought I was only dilated to a 1 and the only reason I was at a 4 was because of the balloon. So 3 hours later with them pumping the maximum amount of pitocin in, I still wasn't making any progress in fact I was regressing. So at 11pm the doctor decided to call it quits and go ahead with a c-section!
At 11:29pm on November 9th our not so little Ellie finally came to see us! After a very long night and day we were so happy to finally see her. Two weeks early Ellie Mae Burdett weighed 8lbs 1 oz. and 19 in long.

She's Coming!

This week the doctor told us that they will be inducing me on Tuesday the Nov 9th. For all of you who are bit confused, it's been and eventful week. On Sunday we went to the hospital because I was swelling and my blood pressure was up. When we got there did a non stress test and took my blood and made me pee in a cup (which is very difficult 9 months pregnant). So after all the test (including a 24 hour urine test which requires you to save and chill your pee for 24 hours. Yes I said chill, don't worry not in fridge just over ice) I have a UTI and mild Preeclampsia. Which apparently puts you in line to be induced at 38 weeks. Yeah for me! So next week we get a baby! I can see why people like having planned c-sections. I feel so prepared! I'm sure I'm not really but it's lovely feeling.

Last but not least, THANK YOU!!!! To my friends who had a little get together for me! You know who you are! It was so fun, we need to do it again! (maybe after RSV season!)

Part 2!

She stayed a girl! I'm so happy that I don't have to give away the cute stuff I've made! Now the only thing we have to come up with is a name. I think we just might call her "the baby" until she can come up with her own name.

Here's to hoping!

My first craft project! They turned out so cute! So these are the cutest little receiving blankets. The only problem with these are that they are indeed little. I am currently in the process of trying to make them bigger!
So here's to hoping the baby stays a girl! Or our little boy is going to have very girly blankets.
Coming soon...matching burp clothes!

Our housewife finally arrived!

If i had a quarter for every time Jacob said, "I can't wait for our housewife to arrive!" I could have quit work a long time ago!
Today rounds off my first week of unemployment, and I must say it is a very strange thing! Our house is so much cleaner! It's great having no dishes in the sink!
When I worked at Pebbles all of us talked about how much fun it would be to stay home and craft all day! My day has finally come! Starting next week I plan to fill my days with all my favorite things... fabric, ribbon, & paper!

There's a baby in there

Yep we're having a baby! We went to the doctor on Monday to see what flavor we were having and our sweet baby was uncooperative.

So we have 80% girl... which means it still could go either way. My sister had a girl... and then 4 weeks later a boy!

It didn't stop me and my mom from buying pink clothes this week! So there is more to come on this gender... stay tuned!

A bump bump bump in the night!

We love our apartment... however we do not like our upstairs neighbors "Nocturnal Activities". Now we wouldn't mind if these activities happen to fall in to appropriate time frames. For example... day time, or night time. But when it is 3 or 4 in the morning and they are not shy, this is what we don't like!
So we have developed a plan. I wish it involved us screaming and banging on the walls in the night, but we don't want to be unfriendly. So we have moved our bed into the spare room! I am super excited because that means all my craft stuff gets to go into the bigger & better room!
So here's to noisy neighbors and me getting a bigger craft room!
